COME TO THE EVENTS THAT SUPPORT US:

MONDAY, MAY 6: Our friends at Benchmark Theatre have designated their Industry Night performance of “The Road to Lethe” as a benefit for the Denver Actors Fund, with 100 percent of ticket sales from this night only as a donation to the DAF. Denver playwright Jeffrey Neuman’s world-premiere play is a modern retelling of “The Golden Apple,” a Greek myth about a petty but destructive rivalry between three goddesses. Only here it plays out as a modern-day exploration of systemic racism and white saviorism among three while women, a Black man and an unexpected Amazon delivery that holds a blessing, a curse – ”or the ghost of something in between.” Directed by Betty Hart and featuring Christine Kahane, Barbara Porreca, Jennifer Condreay and Arthur McFarlane III. Thank you, Haley Johnson, Neil Truglio, Marc Stith and crew. Please join us at 8 p.m. for this special performance at 1560 Teller St. in Lakewood. 90 minutes, no intermission. Tickets $20 (normally $30) on this night only at http://www.benchmarktheatre.com/tickets-the-road-to-lethe/tickets-industry-night.

SATURDAY, MAY 11: Local actor and educator Erica Lee Johnson is currently launching a pilot course at Metropolitan State University Denver titled “Self-Care in Theatre.” As part of the course’s multifaceted curriculum, which explores physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental, and spiritual questions of self-care, the students are asked to seek out and engage with a local organization to broaden their understanding, community connections, empathy and resilience. The students’ final class project is producing and presenting a fundraiser variety show that will showcase an array of artistic expressions and levels of vulnerability through poetry, songs, dance, and monologues – all performed by the students. It’s called the “Lost and Found: A Collaborative Cabaret.” After thoughtful consideration and mutual agreement, the class has decided to donate our proceeds from this event to the Denver Actors Fund. “This is a testament to our collective admiration for the Denver Actors Fund’s exemplary contribution to fostering a culture of mutual aid and comprehensive self-care within the local theater community,” Johnson said. The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 11 in the theater at Arts 271, located at 1150 10th Street Plaza on the Auraria campus. $5 suggested donation. Thank you, Erica and students!
