Bob Hoppe: $5,405

When local actor Bob Hoppe needed open-heart surgery, the DAF got to the heart of the matter

BOB HOPPE

Who we helped: Bob Hoppe has been a greatly admired actor and dancer in the Colorado theater community going back to at least 1997, with a long list of impressive credits spanning Country Dinner Playhouse, BDT Stage, the Arvada Center, Candlelight Dinner Playhouse and more. Most recently, he appeared in “Once Upon a Mattress” and “Noises Off” at the Arvada Center. He was Nick Bottom in BDT’s “Something Rotten” and Max in “The Sound of Music.” At Candlelight, he was King Arthur in “Camelot” and Harold Hill in “The Music Man.” Bob grew up in Denver and attended Ranum High School in Northglenn. “I am very grateful that I can make a living doing what I love to do –  entertain,” said Hoppe.

His medical story: Bob recently required emergency open heart surgery to correct both an aortic valve and an aneurysm. It was a long and very scary process, he said. Even scarier were the bills that followed for his ambulance ride, surgery and hospital stay. There were five in all, totaling ore than $5,150 – after insurance!

How we helped: In short order, the Denver Actors Fund resolved to pay Bob’s entire out-of-pocket obligation, which brings our overall support now to $5,405. Helping any qualified applicant in need is its own joy. But helping someone who means so much to the theater community at large makes us all warm and fuzzy inside.

‘I HONESTLY DON’T KNOW WHAT WE WOULD DO WITHOUT THE DENVER ACTORS FUND!’ – BOB HOPPE
A message from Bob: “I’m so grateful to the Denver Actors Fund for all they do and for every dollar spent helping artists in need. I honestly don’t know what our local artists would do without the generous help of the Denver Actors Fund! Thank you, and please support the Denver Actors Fund in any way you can.”
