‘For when you break a leg’ could not be a more accurate description for James Brunt and the Denver Actors Fund

About James Brunt: James is a True West Award-winning actor, director, teaching artist, poet and theatrical deviser born and raised in Denver, most recently having appeared in Local Theater Company’s “Chasing Breadcrumbs” and Off Center’s “Monopoly Lifesized.” Previous incredits include playing a guide (David Byrne) in the DCPA’s “Theatre of the Mind.” He is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional theater through immersive productions in unconventional spaces, often tackling bold, thought-provoking concepts that challenge audiences to examine their perspectives and their place in the world. James is deeply rooted in the local arts community and continues to explore how storytelling can be used as a tool for connection, healing and change.
James’ medical story: James was just a few days away from opening “Chasing Breadcrumbs” when he was in a life-threatening car accident, and his medical professionals are calling it a miracle that he survived. He underwent surgery to fix a broken femur, multiple fractures and lacerations. After spending time in a rehab facility, much of his focus now in on physical therapy and rehab.
‘THE STRESS OF FINANCES WAS STARTING TO TAKE OVER. THEN THE DENVER ACTORS FUND STEPPED IN TO HELP.’
A message from James: “At a time when I was supposed to be focused on healing, the stress of finances was starting to take over. Then the Denver Actors Fund stepped in to help. It meant the world to feel that kind of support from the community. Thank you for showing up for artists like me when we need it the most.”
