Mallory Moeller : From (anaphylactic) shock to gratitude
Who we helped: Mallory Moeller is currently is grad school and is working part-time as a theater teacher at The Arts Hub in Lafayette. Mallory grew up in Colorado and and received her BFA in music theater from MSU Denver and has performed in a many plays and musicals across the Denver metro area since. Most recently, Mallory starred in “Legally Blonde” at The Arts Hub. When Mallory is not performing on the stage, you can find her performing at her favorite job, which is a character performer at Wands and Wishes Occasions (pictured above).
Her medical story: Last October, Mallory had an allergic reaction that caused her to go into anaphylactic shock. She had to take an ambulance and go to the emergency room, leaving her a $1,500 ER bill and $850 for the ambulance. Unable to pay them off, she went on a hospital payment plan that called for her to pay $120 a month at high interest.
How we helped: The Denver Actors Fund board approved paying both the ambulance bill and the remainder o Mallory’s hospital bill, coming to $1,949.21 in overall support.

MONDAY, MAY 18: Our loyal friends at Veritas Productions are staging the world premiere of a new play called “Divine Bull Transformation,” with the MONDAY, MAY 18, Industry Night performance at the Pluss Theatre designated as a partial fundraiser for the Denver Actors Fund. “Divine Bull Transformation,” written by Mia Burnett (daughter of local actor Jennifer Burnett), is a darkly funny exploration of grief and identity. It’s set in a cosmic limbo disguised as group therapy. As six souls and their “therapist” wrestle with memory, regret and the past, they must decide what it takes to truly let go — before time runs out. Veritas founder Nancy Evans Begley has done something in support of the DAF for every production the company has yet staged, and we are so very grateful for that. MONDAY, JUNE 1: Please join us for Town Hall Arts Center’s Industry Night performance of “Avenue Q.” Our friends at Town Hall are continuing their incredible commitment to designate one performance per run with 100 percent of all proceeds from ticket and concession sales to be donated to The Denver Actors Fund. “Avenue Q” is a Tony-Award-winning musical that combines human actors with mischievous puppets to tell the story of a young college graduate named Princeton, who moves to the less-than-glamorous New York City street of Avenue Q to find himself and navigate adult life. The show explores universal themes of finding love, jobs, and purpose through a humorous and heartfelt lens, but with adult content, including discussions of racism, homosexuality and other subjects.Town Hall is located at 2450 Main St. in Littleton. In Bekah Brunstetter’s play, inspired by a real Colorado legal case that went all the way to the Supreme Court, Jen goes home to a small town in North Carolina marry a woman, but her late mother’s cake-making best friend refuses to provide her service. Faith, family, and frosting collide in this timely comedy directed directed by Troy Lakey. This continues Firehouse Producing Artistic Director Helen Hand’s steadfast commitment to designate one performance of every tun with 100 PERCENT of proceeds donated to the DAF.
