Adrian Egolf and Luke Sorge: $1,758

After five days with infant in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, married couple are counting their blessings

Who we helped: Married couple Adrian Egolf and Luke Sorge have been involved with the Colorado theater community for many years. Adrian, who cut her teeth with her hometown Creede Repertory Theatre, is a longtime assistant producer and company member with the Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company, most recently playing a featured role in the world-premiere play “Eden Prairie, 1971.” Locally, she has worked with the Denver Center, Arvada Center, Colorado Symphony, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Benchmark Theatre, Denver Children’s Theater, Colorado Springs Theatreworks and Miners Alley Playhouse. Luke Sorge is a playwright, librarian, actor – and also a BETC ensemble member. His play “Zen & the Art of Profit” was staged at Miners Alley Playhouse. His acting credits include “Full Code” and “Stupid F##king Bird” with BETC, “The Santaland Diaries” for Off-Center, “Cabaret” for Miners Alley Playhouse and “The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism …” at Curious Theatre.

Their medical story: Adrian, Luke and Eleanor all got COVID (for the first time) around Oct. 20.  In Adrian’s words, Eleanor became incredibly ill and also got croup, a breathing condition caused by viruses. She spent five days in the the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital.

How we helped: After insurance, the family was left with an out-of-pocket bill $1,758 from CU Medicine, which the Denver Actors Fund has paid in full.

‘THE DENVER ACTORS FUND PROVIDED INVALUABLE FINANCIAL RELIEF DURING OUR MOST DIFFICULT PARENTING CHALLENGE SO FAR.’ – ADRIAN EGOLF AND LUKE SORGE

A message from the Sorges: “The old joke for new parents is that you trade in your friends in exchange for your baby. But our recent five-day stay at the hospital with our beloved 21-month old daughter proved that wrong. Emphatically. The Denver Actors Fund – devoted to, and supported by, Colorado’s wonderful theatermakers – provided invaluable financial relief during our most difficult parenting challenge so far. But it also served as a reminder that we always have a home here in this beautiful, talented, loving community.
